Regarding the Diving Vessel Project (click here for background details) we have had some superb developments!..
23rd May 2001: The excellent new vessel (click to photos and video link, below) has been gratefully accepted by the Foundation
- and is currently moored at Newlyn, Cornwall.

24th May 2003: After extensive modifications, we are now ready to move the vessel to Hull, where we have some free moorings waiting (first 3 months free to us upon reaching Hull) URGENTLY SEEKING SPONSORS for deisel, lubricating oil, anti-fouling paint etc . All Donations Very Gratefully and Gracefully Accepted! (info. - click here) - the costs are in the region of £3,000 to make the journey (insurance and diesel)
See Cornwall press cutting: "Pair Trawling For Help" - Click here (apr. '03) ..

THIS VESSEL IS CURRENTLY NAMELESS (..as it's a decommisioned trawler) so our sponsor would have the opportunity of naming the vessel in their own interests, with branding as appropriate! NAME HER !! Please Contact Us if you or your company have an interest in this, bearing in mind that our vessel will ultimately be launched with full publicity machinery in action - we have already received a tremendous amount of public interest and once we reach Hull - this will increase dramatically!!

ALSO - The JJDF has recently teamed up with the Doncaster Division of the Sub Aqua Club and we'll be using their facilities as our headquarters - which is fantastic news! Many, many thanks to all involved.

It is the intention of the JJDF, along with a professional diving crew, the convert this vessel (shown below) into a deep diving training ship. The main components being a twin compartment deck compression chamber and an over the side (STRBD) Web Bell Diving System, with below deck air, Nitrox, O² - He, Pure O², pumping and analysing and storage facilities to 300bar - 4000psi. With hot water diving, u/w floodlighting, video helle unscramblers, and capable of diving extremely safely to a maximum depth of 200ft, using open circuit and rebreathing equipment. Along with it's charity stutus and all profits going directly back into the charity, this makes this vessel unique in the sports and commercial diving arena. This also makes the vessel available for charter hire, for diving operations and civil engineering contracts, including underwater welding, cutting and blasting, inspection, salvage and surveys.

Dear Mr.Heald

Re: Divers Charity Building

Further to our recent meeting we write to express our support for the project .The aims and objectives of the charity sound fascinating. Your intentions for the site, which may integrate teaching facilities along with outdoor activities, could help to bring new life to the area.

The activities of the foundation potentially lend themselves to such a dramatic location and by providing facilities one may be able to create employment and a sustainable future for the immediate environment.

We would like to be involved with the project and look forward to developing our working relationship.

Kind regards

Yours Sincerely

Daniel Jary DipArch RIBA

100% of all donations work directly for the Foundation, donations are also tax deductable.
Cheques should be made payable to the Johno Johnson Diving Foundation - Registered Charity No. 1041739 - they should be sent directly to the Natwest Bank, P.O. Box 120, 42 High Street, Sheffield S1 1QG.
Consider this YOUR charity - I am sure we all know someone who would benefit directly from the unique amenities on offer with the Watercrafts Complex - and collectively we will all benefit.
We desperately need legal advice concerning landfill, equipment, books of reference etc.
We need help via fundraising events - lobbying your own MP regarding this landfill dilemma - give us your ideas, comments and suggestions - even just your moral support - with a little help and effort from us all, we can see this: our project, develop well into the 21st Century.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with your advice, questions, or suggestions ..

The Armstrong Quarry site is quite hazardous in it's present state and has notices warning that 'Trespassers will be Prosecuted'. We want to see the site developed as soon as is humanly possible - that is the reason for this website and all our other forms of publicity - to alert as many people nationally and internationally to our project and gain as much support as possible - but for now, we urge you not to visit the proposed Watercrafts site and are not providing a location map for this very reason - at least until the Foundation has actually secured the site for development.

This section will continue to be updated to keep you informed of project developments, so check back regularly for progress reports.
